Characterization of phenolic compounds isolated from the Fraxinus angustifolia plant and several associated bioactivities

In Algeria, Fraxinus angustifolia Vahl (Oleaceae) is a prominent ingredient for the treatment of inflammatory diseases caused by oxidative stress. This study aimed to make comparison between phenolic compound compositions ethanolic and aqueous extracts (decoction infusion) this plant test antioxidant, cytotoxic anti-pancreatic lipase activities from leaf bark. The identification quantification compounds was carried out HPLC-DAD-MS antioxidant activity assessed according three methods: Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power (FRAP), 2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl-hydrazyl-hydrate (DPPH) free radical scavenging 2,2′-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) activity. effect investigated using human colon adenocarcinoma cell line HCT-116; while pancreatic inhibitory examined 4-nitrophenyl butyrate (NPB) as substrate. A large variety were detected content much higher than that had capacity those bark, however, latter showed greater antilipase cytotoxicity former. These results suggest may be an important source active with biological which justify its use in traditional medicine.
